Lumbini at First Light

To truly experience Lumbini, one must leave Brewstation before the sun touches the horizon. Driving south on the Siddhartha Highway for forty minutes, the air turns still as you enter the Sacred Garden. The Maya Devi Temple—the exact birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama—is at its most profound in the thin, blue hour before the tour groups arrive. Walk barefoot across the dew-dampened grass, past the Ashoka Pillar, and find a spot by the sacred pond. The sound of distant chanting from the various international monasteries creates a sonic landscape that transcends borders. Being so close to one of the planet's most significant pilgrimage sites is a privilege we never take for granted. We encourage our guests to spend their morning in reflection there and return to us by midday for a grounding lunch and a contemplative cup of coffee.
